Here are some pictures taken on the tour for what to expect:

The Christmas Market is still on the Old Town Square in early January. Years ago the market stalls used to have red roofs but they changed them to white to make it look like snow. Sometimes the snow is real……

If a tour guide is not speaking to you he’s generally looking at the sky to try and predict the weather to avoid the worst of it. I’d been looking at this dark cloud scene advancing for a while so when we started the tour I made sure we had a place for cover when it arrived about 20 minutes later. We actually sat at a cafe outside under a covered balcony during the storm.

Prague italian renaissance building in the tyn courtyard
The Tyn courtyard looks like it’s from the Renaissance period at first glance but it’s much older. Here my clients learn some Czech, interpret building decoration and find out why we have red and blue numbered plates on the houses.

prague world war two stumble stones
I was very honoured to have been invited to a Stumble Stones laying ceremony in 2018. It’s important that you know what they are and why they are here.

We don’t go into the Old Town Hall/Tower but I’ll give you some tips on the fastest way to get in, best value options for tickets and what happens if you get married here.

People are so concentrating on booking flights and hotel that they are happy to find out they are arriving in the Easter Market season which is the week either side of Easter. The Easter Market looks very similar to the Christmas Market just with different decoration.

The whole tour was dry except for the last 5 minutes which required a little trot over to the covered arches by the Tyn Church and again explains why a poncho and/or compact umbrella can come in handy. Still it did not affect the enjoyment.

prague celetna street at night with lit shop windows
On occasion due to scheduling I run this tour at 3pm so at certain times of the year we will be finishing in the dark. This is a picture of Celetna Street about 4-30pm in November.

Prague st nicholas church old town chandelier
The Church of ST Nicholas in the Old Town has a beautiful crystal chandelier inside. I’ll tell you the church’s colourful history and why it took less than 5 years to build.

Coming back onto the Old Town Square you’d get this view late afternoon or early evening in the summer.

The Spanish Synagogue, always better to take pictures after 2pm so the sun is fully on the face. I’ll tell you how to combine a trip here with some culture and I also talk about this building on the Architecture tour. Judging from the colour of the leaves this picture was originally taken around April/May.

This was an absolute drenching. No amount of umbrellas and ponchos could withstand that rain. This was a morning tour so it ends on the Old Town Square at 1130am. I didn’t have anything else booked that day so we all went off to a local restaurant and had a good chat while pools of water formed on the floor….
