Prague parking meter guide
OK, so this is what the machine looks like complete with all the Czech writing. This page will tell you how it works.

The orange area on the left is currently changing based on the type of machine but, in general it will have important pieces of information which include:
Day and Time restriction.
Minimum payment.
Tariff (how much per hour) in Czech Korun and Euros (if accepted).
Minimum multiple (coins are rejected in multiples of 5kc). In my experience the bigger the coins you use the better the chances of the machine accepting them. If you use lots of 1kc and 2kc coins then the machine must be able to recognise multiples of 5kc.
Maximum duration and cost.
The picture of the Ticket Machine has a series of numbers which will walk you through the process.
As you approach the machine, both the top green and lower orange screens will be blank.
1) As you put money in, the green screen will have information about the money you have put in so far and the maximum amount that you are allowed to put in.
2) The orange screen will tell you the expiry time of the ticket based on how much money you have put in.
3) This is where you put the coins. Remember to use 5kc, 10kc and 20kc coins for best result.
4) The type of coins accepted by the machine in Czech Korun. Machines capable of accepting Euros will have additional pictures. In general, only the one Euro and two Euro coins are accepted.
5) If you are happy that you have the correct expiry time then press the green button.
6) If you wish to cancel the transaction then turn the red button to the right (on some machines) or press the red button.
7) If you turned/pressed the red button then this is where you get your money back or where rejected coins are returned.
8) If you pressed the green button then this is where the ticket arrives.
If the amount of money you put in the machine means that you stay within the duration limit but, exceed the daily end time, then your credit is carried forward to the next morning i.e. if I was in Prague parking in Wenceslas Square at 1905 and put enough money into the machine for one hour, the ticket would show an expiry time of 0805 the next day.
The ticket must be put face up on the inside of the windshield so it is visible to a ticket inspector.
If all your coins are being rejected then it is likely that you have reached the maximum tariff or the money entered is not a multiple of 5kc.
