Prague Vysehrad Hotels

Vysehrad is the area between the Nusle Bridge and the river and extending uphill towards Pankrac. This is a fully residential area and Prague Vysehrad hotels are generally around the 3 and 4 star range. It’s a 30 minute walk into town but, has excellent bus/tram/metro connections day and night depending in which part of the district you are located. Most visited places in the area are the church of St Peter and St Paul, the associated Vysehrad cemetery and the riverfront Cubist buildings.

5 Star Prague Vysehrad hotels – Hotel Corinthia

swimming pool at the hotel corinthia in prague

Formerly called the Corinthia Towers it’s the largest of the Prague Vysehrad hotels with views on all sides. It has reserved “executive floors” and does different business packages. I mention this as the executive rooms get free access to the wellness area and pool and the hotel has lounges especially for business. Others will pay extra for this. Hence it is a popular place for people attending the conferences across the road. All rooms are air conditioned.

Hugely popular with big tour companies like Viking River Cruises, the concierge sells travel passes so you should take advantage of that. At the time of writing parking was CZK500 per day payable by machine at the reception.

4 Star – Hotel Park Inn

Located about 100 metres from the riverfront at Svobodova 1 and is one of the specialist business Prague Vysehrad hotels. The hotel gets a lot of conference/business traffic with 5 different meeting rooms and fairly large parking facilities. I really consider this to be a business hotel, professional but not really warm. Complimentary shuttle to the Prague 4 business district and Congress Centre. Basic guest rooms are a good size but have to pay extra for hi-speed internet access. Pretty good value city-break packages and probably the best gym and sun-deck in the area. Four tram stops to the centre.

4 Star – Holiday Inn

This is also called the Holiday Inn Congress Centre so should come as no surprise that it’s in the same complex and draws a lot of congress traffic. If you can, get a room facing the Nusle Valley with it’s views over towards the Prague Castle. Pleasant public areas and rear garden terrace. The rooms are comfortable but a bit weak on spec. One of two Prague Vysehrad hotels located close to the Metro station (the other is the Corinthia above). It’s 2 minute walk to the metro or a 25 minute walk into the centre. You are also a 10 minute walk to the Vysehrad Cemetery.

4 Star – King Charles Boutique Hotel and Residence

red and gold decorated bedroom at the king charles boutique hotel

This is the only one of the Prague Vysehrad hotels which has managed to get Hotel, Boutique and Residence into it’s name. Although it does not look like much from the outside, inside it is tastefully decorated in Rococo style. Period furnishings in all rooms and of course, marble bathrooms. It has a good reputation and I have friends who regularly stay here because of the location away from the tourist areas, nice management and only 6 tram stops to the centre.

3 Star – Hotel U Semika

I recommend it as it is without doubt the nicest of the 3 star Prague Vysehrad hotels in the area and probably ranks in my top 5 in the city. You just have to be ok with a short walk and the use of trams to get to and from the centre. This is a family-run hotel and it shows with many nice details that you will not find in higher class places and it’s located in lovely surroundings. Add a nice local on-site restaurant (20% guest discount) and it’s definitely a place to consider as an “off the beaten path” choice.

3 Star – Hotel Inos

At first sight it’s a basic 3 star in a quiet area and it’s my choice of all the Prague Vysehrad hotels for people on a budget who want clean, cheap and secure. Look a bit closer and you’ll find spacious rooms with tea/coffee facilities, guarded parking for a small charge and only a 300 yard walk to the river road. From there it’s 6 tram stops to the centre or 2 tram stops to “Zlute Lazne” recreation area.
