Holesovice/Letna Area Description and Hotel Choice
I recommend people use public transport for most places on this page. The accommodation is localised to three areas:
1) Vystaviste/Tesla. This is the exhibition area and sports arena accessible mainly by tram. You can walk into town but it would be at least 45 minutes. Biggest hotels in the area are the Park and Expo. Smaller places are the Olga and Vysta.
2) Holesovice. This is all accommodation north or east of the Holesovice train station accessible mainly by tram with metro options. The area has a better choice of small bars and restaurants. Plaza Alta is the only 4 star (Plaza Alta is a good choice for people wanting to be close to DOX), Extol Inn is the best of the 3 stars and everything else is at the budget end.
3) Letna. Park area overlooking the river. Accessible by tram and walkable distance to the centre in 45 minutes. Nicer places are the Belvedere, Capri and Splendid.
Holesovice is in the Prague 7 area. Transport options are good with 24 hour tram service and two metro stations. Although it would not be considered walking distance to Prague the tram service will get you unto the centre of town in 10 minutes so it's worth buying a travel pass if you stay here. Many reasonably priced bars and restaurants in the area plus the Holesovice Train Station, the Vystaviste exhibition area, Modern Art Gallery and the "Rivertown" open market. Most accommodation is in the hotel three star range with some four stars and hostels.
The descriptions of the hotels, location tips and walking times are my own work. You can check general hotel availability using the HotelsCombined search box on your left. If you get a shortlist of places, use my site to narrow down your choice. When you finally make a choice the website will show you 5 or 6 options for booking agents. Make your choice by personal preference or just select the cheapest. Entirely up to you.
4* Hotel Belvedere. Prague 7 Letna. Hotel has 151 rooms but only those on the executive floor are airconditioned. Best way to get into the centre is to take the tram (8 minutes) or walk down through Letna Park and across the river (25 minutes). On the corner of a fairly busy road so light sleepers should consider an inside room. Prague hotels may offer local Prague deals so their webpage is at www.hotelbelvedereprague.cz.

4* Hotel Expo. Prague 7 Vystaviste. Well served by 5 different tram lines so you'll want to buy a travel pass. Often a conference hotel catering to the nearby exhibition venue or for sports fans attending the next door arena. Room spec is pretty good. Nothing in the local area unless you would like a 10 minute walk to the bars and restaurants close to the Park Hotel. Often get good last minute packages when no exhibtions are planned. Prague hotels may offer local Prague deals so their webpage is at www.expoprag.cz.

4* Park Hotel. Prague 7 Vystaviste. Largest hotel in the area. Renovated and many would say that it very much feels like Novotel in both decor and room size. Often a conference hotel catering to the nearby exhibition venue or for sports fans attending the Tesla arena. Room spec is pretty good except if you want the free internet you'll need an RJ45 LAN cable. A few small bars and restaurants in the area and most people will be using the trams to get in and out of the centre (10 minute journey). Prague hotels may offer local Prague deals so their webpage is at www.parkhotel-praha.cz/en.

4* Plaza Alta. Prague 7 Holesovice. 87 rooms and the executive floors offer bathrobes and extra toiletries etc. Free hi-speed internet. Twelve minutes by tram to the centre of Mala Strana. Picks up some conference trade. Operates a Czech/Mex restaurant open to the public. Prague hotels may offer local Prague deals so their webpage is at www.plazahotelalta.com.

3* Hotel Capri. Prague 7 Letna. Opened in 2008. To walk into town you'll have a steep descent so most people in the area elect to use the tram (nearest stop is 80 metres). Clean 3 star with a public restaurant on site. No lift but only three floors. Free tea/coffee facilities. Prague hotels may offer local Prague deals so their webpage is at www.hotelcapri.cz.

3* Hotel Olga. Prague 7 Vystaviste. A pleasant family run 3 star. Very Czech style. Good value double rooms if you are prepared to buy a travel pass. A few bars and restaurants in the area and the modern art collection of the National gallery is less than 5 minutes walk from the hotel. Prague hotels may offer local Prague deals so their webpage is at www.hotelolga.cz.

3* Hotel Extol Inn. Prague 7 Holesovice. Good family option in a two-room apartment and if the adults by travel passes then the kids travel free on the tram. Hotel offers rooms both en-suite (standard) and shared (economy) if you don't need you own bath/wc. Standard price is OK but you'd get a better "shared" deal in one of the central hostels. Prague hotels may offer local Prague deals so their webpage is at www.extolinn.cz.

3* Residence Vysta. Prague 7 Vystaviste. Located right opposite the Tesla Arena. Rooms can be big and empty or small and cramped. Strictly for budget travellers. Prague hotels may offer local Prague deals so their webpage is at www.residencevysta.com.

3* Hotel Henry. Prague 7 Holesovice. Cheapest in the area whilst still maintaining good facilities and located a hundred metres from the Holesovice metro. Really for budget travellers who want a cheap and cheerful place to sleep. Breakfast is extra but you can get an apartment for four people here for less than 70 Euros. Prague hotels may offer local Prague deals so their webpage is at www.hotelhenry.cz.

3* Hotel Splendid. Prague 7 Letna. Nice place with nearly 50 rooms and two restaurants. Really, it's accessible only using trams although you can walk from the Old Town square to here in about 30 minutes (hotel says 20 and forgets to mention the steep hill) I would advise taking the tram and the nearest stop is 200 metres away. Prague hotels may offer local Prague deals so their webpage is at www.hotelsplendid.cz.

3* Residence 4 B&B. Prague 7 Letna. This is a B&B with apartments. Little bit expensive in high season but if you fill the room its good value. I recommend it for families due to it's location close to Letna and Stromovka Parks. Also suitable for drivers as street parking in the area is OK. Adults should buy a travel pass to use the trams (each adult can accompany a child under 6 for free). Prague hotels may offer local Prague deals so their webpage is at www.residence4bandb.com.cz.

2* Sir Tobys Hostel. Prague 7 Holesovice. When it first opened it was the best in Prague. Now it's about third and even with it's apparent "out of centre" location people still flock there for the atmosphere. Good value for those willing to use the tram system (10 minutes to the centre). Prague hostels may offer local Prague deals so their webpage is at www.sirtobys.com.

2* Hostel/Hotel Leon. Prague 7 Holesovice. Only difference between the rooms are that the "hotel" rooms have their own bath/wc whereas the "hostel" rooms share. No TV in the room, only a common TV in a separate room. Note that price appears cheap because they are per/person and not per/room. Better deal at the Extol. Prague hostels may offer local Prague deals so their webpage is at www.leonhotel.eu.
