Central Prague Apartments That I Recommend

Recommended Central Prague Apartments

The Prague apartments sector has really boomed over the last few years and there are now hundreds of apartments spread throughout the city with the large majority in the centre.

It seems like every man and his dog are renting out. I’ve listed my favourites below that have locations in the Old Town, the New Town and the Lesser Town.

When renting an apartment check:

  • The cleaning fee

  • The charge for lost keys

art house prague apartments

Art House Central Prague Apartments – Location: Old Town

Why I recommend: It has five stylish central Prague apartments of one or two bedrooms each taking advantage of the original features (parquet and mosaic flooring, frescos and period furnishing). It’s an attractive building that tastefully combines select modern art with a range of modern conveniences. You probably won’t want to open the windows at the front as you overlook the main road but, keep them closed and you won’t notice. An easy 5 minute walk you can reach both the Old Town Square and the Lesser Town (via Charles Bridge).

Apartments Residence Retezova – Location: Old Town

prague apartments retezova

NOTE: THIS IS NOT THE RETEZOVA APARTMENTS IN LILIOVA.

Buried in the oldest part of the Old Town but as the street is a dead-end to traffic its also surprisingly quiet. Old Town Square and Republic Square metro stations are 5 minutes walk. River tram stop is 3 minutes (with night service).
Why I recommend: A beautiful and historic building tastefully reconstructed to make it into a set of modern Prague apartments each with its own kitchenette and most with air conditioning. My own favourites? for the 2-adults/2-children combination or a couple that wants maximum split-level space then it has to be Apartment Paris. For a romantic break for two in an unforgettable environment, Apartment Madrid.

Olivova Apartments – Location: New Town (Wenceslas area)

prague olivova apartments

Attic Apartments with a three minute walk to either Wenceslas Square or the Main Train Station and metro.
Why I recommend: Quiet street location between the train station and Wenceslas Square it offers large duplex combinations for up to 8 people. Hi-spec central Prague apartments including two bathrooms so you get a proper walk-in shower and a nice bath, a super kitchen if you want to do your own cooking/entertaining, multi-media and luxurious seating for chilling out. The units are air conditioned and non-smoking. There’s a few independent shops and cafes close to the apartments but you’ll have a short walk to Jindrisska where you’ll find the choice of places increase.

Apartments Truhlarska – Location: New Town (Republic Square)

Republic Square metro and tram stop is a 4 minute walk.
Why I recommend: One of the originals that I’ve recommended since it opened. Located in a quiet street not on the main tourist path The users of the apartments often drift into the Czech pub located in the same building. There are 6 Prague apartments for rent with 1-bedroom and 2-bedroom option. Personally I think the 1-bed options have always been excellent value. You’ve got a 2 minute walk to Republic Square and the large Palladium shopping centre. Another 5 minutes will get you to the Old Town Square or Wenceslas Square. The apartments have a good specification, nothing design just clean and functional.

central prague apartments seven tales

Seven Tales Suites – Location: Old Town

Why I recommend: It has options for Studio, 1-bed and 2-bed apartments all with kitchenettes. The style is again a mix of classic (Parquet flooring in most suites) and modern furnishings. A third factor is thrown in which is the “Fairytale” decor as all suites have a classic Czech Fairytale theme.

It’s heated but not air conditioned. Front facing suites have a view over the street called Karlova.

U Kapra Apartments – Location: Old Town

Why I recommend: Apart from the great location less than 60 seconds walk to the Old Town Hall it’s 13 very central Prague apartments vary hugely in space and decor so it will appeal to many people. I don’t necessarily agree with certain modern decor for a 15th Century building like this but it has classically decorated and furnished apartments as well. It’s a true apartment house as there is no on-site restaurant but does offer breakfast served to the room. It’s a non-smoking building with an option for a sleep-6 apartment and has air conditioning in all rooms.

prague old royal post apartments at night viewed from maltese square

Old Royal Post Apartments – Location: Lesser Town

Why I recommend: Not only a set of 25 stunning apartments but the immediate area is one of the nicest and quietest in the city. It’s a relative newcomer for Prague apartments having only opened in 2015 (I watched the renovation over a one year period). The decor is a bit eclectic i.e. parquet flooring mixed with graphic design and bright colours. Anything with a terrace or balcony is on the inside courtyard of the building.

prague siesta apartments interior parket floor

Prague Siesta Apartments – Location: Old Town

Why I recommend: It’s a mix of old world Czech meeting the modern day reflected in both the building and the decor. Central Prague apartments with a great location in just about the oldest part of the Old Town. Nine apartments of studio, 1-bed and 2-bed types. Any reference to the “Garden” means the courtyard. Smart little cafe in the building and just outside in the courtyard (both open to the public). Friendly staff.
